What is Los Audio?

Los Audio is a biweekly newsletter of radio, podcasting, and other audio-adjacent events in Los Angeles.

Who is behind Los Audio?

That’s me, Emma Lehman! I’m a producer, host, and audio journalist based in Highland Park. I produce and host limited series investigative podcasts, like Gooned and Texas Twiggy, and drive a little yellow car with a bunch of public radio bumper stickers. You can learn more about me and my work on my website.

I grew up outside of Washington, DC, spending summers and holidays with family and friends in the LA area. I finally got to move to LA in 2018, and graduated from UCLA in 2022.

As I got into the field of audio journalism, I found I had to do a lot of legwork to discover meetups and in-person radio and podcasting communities that weren’t on the East Coast. I’ve always wished there were one place to go to discover these kinds of events in LA, so I decided to make one!

Can I submit an event?

Please do! I try to include every LA event I find, but I’m bound to miss a few. If you come across, hear about, or host a radio, podcast, or audio event, community, meetup, workshop, etc. that you want featured in Los Audio, send an email to losaudio@substack.com with the details. Be sure to include the date, location, a description of the event, along with any relevant links, and whether or not it’s a recurring event.

Los Audio is a biweekly newsletter (that’s every two weeks, not twice a week) – if there is a specific timeframe in which you’d like the event to be mentioned, include that in your email.

How can I get involved in Los Audio?

Los Audio is a free newsletter, but your support through a paid subscription or one-time donation helps keep it that way, and compensates the contributors for our time and effort! Please consider a paid subscription or donation to help get in-person events into the inboxes of the Los Angeles audio community.
