🌟 an announcement :) 🌟
In which I put the MA in Emma.
Hello lovely readers. I have… an announcement.
This June, I will be starting a master’s program!
That’s right, dear reader, I am throwing myself back into the structure and institutional validation I have craved for 4 years and heading to USC Annenberg for an MA in Specialized Journalism.
I have not plunged myself into the annals of academia since 2022 (arguably 2021, since I accidentally finished undergrad early, after which I was unceremoniously booted from the student health insurance and meal plan, leaving me paranoid about the smallest stomach ache and eating Ralph’s premade sandwiches in my studio [conducive to aforementioned stomach aches] for the remaining 3 quarters of the academic year.)
I’m excited to expand my brain into the full size of the forehead which contains it.
Nothing is happening to Los Audio, at least not on purpose.
But, if beginning June 22nd, posts become more sparse or a few deadlines are missed, please bear with me. I was either studying, reporting in the field, or commuting to campus.
Honestly, given that my commute ranges from 23 to 95 minutes based on the time of day, any newsletter delays are likely because of the latter.
Wish me luck, send me good vibes, and keep your fingers crossed that I can get a parking pass. Honestly, I would have fallen head over heels for a scholarship that included a parking pass. Should this endeavor see me rise through the ranks to become filthy rich (hold your laughter, I know what industry I’m in, a girl can dream) I will institute a USC scholarship which hinges entirely on guaranteed free parking.
“But Emma, didn’t you go to UCLA for undergrad?”
Why, yes. This new development does, of course, mean that I am a turncoat. I anticipate that, any day now, Gene Block will emerge from retirement to climb through my bedroom window and personally repossess all of my Bruin merch.
But I got this shirt just in case:
Thank you for your attention to my little announcement, for your forthcoming patience, and for being a loyal subscriber through it all. Expect many newsletter introductions whining about finals and deadlines. It comes with the territory.
